What in the Heavens is Supermoon?

Supermoon is a micro-enterprise and blog founded by Bradley and Alexis Grillo in 2019. We rehabilitate dilapidated homes into income generating investments and cozy places to live, documenting our process along the way. Our first property, a remodeled Acorn Deckhouse in Harpswell, Maine, was completed earlier this year and is currently rented year-round. We just began work on a 1970’s era camp along the Harraseeket River in Freeport, which we plan to turn into our new home and AirBnb-style rental by 2020. Currently, we exclusively work on our own properties, and have plans to expand into property management in the next few years. We do nearly all the design and construction ourselves and with the help of family and friends, and the Supermoon blog is a place to share our ideas and progress.

More about Bradley & Alexis:

The Grillo’s met in 2004 as freshman at Alfred University, where Bradley studied mechanical engineering and Alexis pursued a studio arts degree. They began dating in 2013 and married in 2017. After college, Bradley spent six years at the Maine-based engineering firm, Cianbro, working on energy-related civil engineering projects, including wind turbines and transmission lines. In 2015, he was hired as a field engineer at Falls Point Marine, a Freeport-based marine construction company, where he continues to design and build dock systems in Casco Bay. Alexis spent her first decade after college living and working at artist-in-residence programs in Upstate New York. After moving to Maine in 2014, she shifted her career path to focus on nonprofit management, and currently works at the Chewonki Foundation in Wiscasset, Maine. Alexis is studying at the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine, and expects to complete her masters degree in Nonprofit Management in 2020.

The Supermoon team also includes Cricky and Slyvestro Grillo, our faithful airedale terrier and Maine Coon kitty.
